Luftwaffe Carbine Sniper Tropical Canvas Sight Cover Blue-Grey Sight Protector K98 98K
LW Tropen sight cover / sight protector made from old blue-grey canvas material for the 98K carbine.
These covers were used to protect the unused sliding sight from dirt and damage during tough frontline operations, and also to prevent glare in the sight when the weapon was hot from firing. A sniper rarely needs to use the open sights, but should this be necessary, the sliding sight is opened and the leather cap is folded down. To prevent it from being lost, the whole assembly is secured with a strap.
