Wehrmacht Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross 1939 "Lying 2" C.E. Juncker Berlin Lazy 2

Exceptional jeweler's quality, 3-part manufacture, magnetic iron core, silver frame. Original hallmark "2" (horizontal) for maker C.E. Juncker, Berlin,
and "800". Jump ring also stamped "800".

Absolutely original, older collector's item

".....This variant is the last variant of the C.E. Juncker company. The first awards are known to have been made towards the end of 1944. They were awarded until the end of the war in May 1945 and crosses of this variant were also found in the stocks of the Order Chancellery, which were moved to Schloss Klessheim after the capitulation.
The crosses of this variant are marked with a "2" on the reverse of the polished edge of the 6 o'clock arm. This two is shown lying down. Hence the name of the variant, "lying 2", or "lazy 2", where "lazy" means as much as lazy. The "2" can be shown lying on its stomach or on its back. In the code system of the Presidential Chancellery, the "2" stands for the company C.E. Juncker. Next to it is the silver hallmark for the fineness "800".

The crosses of this variant have all the familiar features of a typical Juncker Knight's Cross. For example, the "picket fence effect" on the central inner corners of the frame. The ribs of the individual inner edges of the frame sides converge here in a characteristic system. It looks somewhat like the cross points of a picket fence. Hence the name.

The outer tips of the frame have a very similar appearance that is just as characteristic of a Juncker cross. Here too, the converging ribs create a striking image.

The shape and embossing of the years on the front and back (1939 and 1813 respectively) are always the same and absolutely characteristic of all Juncker Knight's Crosses. Minimal deviations may result from wear and tear of the embossing tools for the production period.

The crosses of the "lying 2" variant all have a matt black core lacquering. They are particularly dark and have a dull, slightly rough surface. The paint application is thicker and less durable compared to earlier variants.
The jump ring is bent from 1.5 mm thick silver wire. It bears the silver hallmark "800".

The core is always made of iron, i.e. magnetic, the frame and the jump ring are always made of silver.

Crosses of this variant are rare and very popular with collectors....."
