When the USA entered the war against North Korea, it quickly became clear that clothing was needed, in order to be prepared for the harsh Korean winters. The U.S. Army developed a parka with a removable inner lining that was cut large enough to be worn over equipment.Due to its exceptional functionality, the parka was very popular and remained in service well into the 1980s with only slight modifications. TOP new production - US M1951 Field Jacket Olive The M1951 is the archetype of all modern functional jackets. Developed in the early 1950s, its aim was to offer good freedom of movement, plenty of storage space and the ability to accommodate an inner lining. The M1951 was also an attempt to develop a jacket that could be used both in the field and in barracks. All these features were successfully combined in this jacket.Although it was only produced for a few years, it quickly achieved cult status.The 1951 Field Jacket was made from a 9oz Poplin fabric, which offered very good wind and moisture resistance. The zipper on the front was closed with a heavy talon and covered by a button placket. The inner lining could be attached to the jacket with buttons.
