Sight cover / sight protection made of leather for the Karabiener 98K. These covers were used to protect the unused sliding sight from dirt and damage during hard front use and also to prevent flickering in front of the optics when the weapon is fired hot. A sniper rarely needs the open sights, and should this nevertheless be necessary, the slide can be opened and the leather cap folded down. To prevent loss, the whole thing is secured with a sling.
