From a collection being cleared out – Tank blouse, enlisted rank, Panzertruppe Großdeutschland
# Black armoured jacket with trimmings in the WH style, curved front button placket (size L / 50–52 German), with all trimmings and insignia as shown in the pictures
Condition: second-hand; all components (jacket, insignia) are collector’s reproductions.
The tank tunic is made from heavy, jet-black woollen cloth in the Wehrmacht cut, with a cotton lining. The collar and collar placket are embellished with piping in the tank corps’ distinctive pink colour.
The jacket is fitted with drawstrings on the inside left and right so that it can be worn close to the body.
The epaulettes feature metal patches bearing the letters ‘GD’ for the fully motorised ‘Großdeutschland’ Division. On the left side of the chest is a ‘Bronze’ armoured combat badge. On the right forearm, the ‘Großdeutschland’ sleeve band has been sewn on in a machine-embroidered design, matching the black armoured blouse on a black background, along with a rank-and-file breast eagle.
A jacket like this might have been worn by a driver in a Tiger main battle tank.
The original is now virtually impossible to obtain.
