Lieutenant Colonel William "Bill" Kilgore's uniform set as worn in the film Apocalypse Now.In the famous Hollywood hit film, Robert Duvall played the legendary character Lt. Colonel Bill Kilgore as commander of the 1st Battalion of the 9th Airborne Brigade. The helicopter attack on the beach accompanied by Wagner's Ride of the Wallküren is probably unforgettably unique in film history. The helicopters, the music by the Doors, and the surfing helped the film to its success.Lomax Militaria has taken the trouble to reproduce this exact uniform set. We were supported by our supplier from Thailand who flew to Vietnam to have the badges made "in country". Each badge was made by hand and elaborately embroidered by machine. PRODUCT DETAILS US ARMY WW2 A-11 watch: These are high quality reproductions of the WW2 A-11 military service watch. Although numerous watches were produced in the US and issued during the war, the A-11 is perhaps the best known. At the beginning of the conflict, it was recognized that Allied personnel would need a wristwatch that could withstand the rigors of combat. Which led to the specification for this watch being issued. Three American watch manufacturers (Elgin, Waltham and Bulova) were contracted to produce the watches, although the A-11 also saw service with the RAF, RCAF and Soviet Air Force despite being an American production. All in all, this made for a simple, accurate, high-quality wristwatch that could withstand the rigors of field service and be easily maintained. Each watch features: * A black dial with white indexes. * Battery operated quartz movement. * An outer track for the minutes. * A smart stainless steel case with a snap-off case. * Luminescent hands and numerals for easy reading in low light conditions. * A 23cm olive green canvas strap held by spring bars. All watches also had to feature "hacking" (the seconds hand stopping completely when pulled out of the crown) for easy synchronization and precise timing. The dial measures 32mm across, excluding the crown. A flat brown presentation box with silver embossed text. A maximum wrist size of 20.5cm.  Item condition: New, Reproduction 1x piece
